Sorry for getting behind, it seems to be a running theme for me, but this time it was because of a migraine that stopped me in my tracks. So I'm doing Nov. 5, 6, and 7!
Nov. 5
Encourage local schools to speak and teach about adoption. The best way to do this is to talk with the principle. And maybe bring resources or suggestions of where to get resources. Maybe get an adoption professional to go to the school or contact the principle and offer to come talk to the school or some of the classes.
Nov. 6
Blog about adoption awareness. I do this regularly, but I'm going to finish my adoption story later, I have part 1 of the story written, you can find it here. Getting the word out there about adoption is the best way to spread awareness, it's the best way to spread awareness about many different things.
Nov. 7
Bake cookies for all the adoption professionals who helped you through the adoption process. This is a sweet sweet idea!! And especially since it's November, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner, you can have the kids help you, roll them out and cut them into fall shapes. The kids could have a blast decorating them, and they would mean way more the adoption professionals if the children they helped you adopt made them.
Another great idea is to make a gift basket for the adoption professionals, or gift bags for them to give to birth moms and adoptive moms, you can get sample sized lotions and stuff at Bath and Body Works (if you have one, which unfortunately we don't...) But there is other places you can get sample or travel sized things. The adoptive family gave me a basket with some things in it, lotion, bath salts, bath gel, and a Willow Tree Angel, "Angel of the Heart", it meant the world to me, and I think it would be great if other birth moms had something like that.
